A Great Loudspeaker for Great Amplifiers!
The name OctaCon originates from Octa = “eight” for its eight inch driver, and Con = for Dual “Con”centric.
We have designed a loudspeaker that should satisfy even the most demanding music enthusiast by emphasizing on aspects that we consider key to a satisfying listening experience:

- High sensitivity of 90dB
means the loudspeaker is highly efficient and is able to produce good volumes even with amplifiers of very low wattage. - Wide frequency spectrum
reaching from very low frequencies of 34Hz for reproducing even the lowest of bass up to very high frequencies of 25.000Hz to ensure coverage of as many overtones as possible needed for a detailed and natural reproducion of music. Besides, we did our best to keep the SPL at a relatively constant level across the whole frequency range (just a note for the experts under us). - High quality components
used for the speaker unit and frequency divider as well as a wooden bass-reflex housing that is big enough to fill also large rooms with sufficient volume.

To complete the offering and sparing you the effort of looking for accessories we include a pair of high-quality copper cables with banana plugs a well as a set of sound isolation speaker feet with spikes.
The OctaCon is not only a great companion for all of Tholin-Audio’s amplifiers but obviously also for great amplifiers of other manufacturers.

Rocket Cone Phase Plug
"Rocket cone" shaped phase plug in the middle of the tweeter assists the critical shortening in the propagation path of the acoustic wavefront.
Shallow Waveguide
Shallower waveguide around the tweeter with a more aggressive flare allows for rapid expansion of the acoustic wavefront through the mouth of the bass driver. It improves articulate and precise reproduction through acoustic-centre alignment and phase coherence.
Unlike in conventional loudspeakers, the Dual Concentric design features a tweeter speaker located in the centre of the bass speaker – basically two drivers, one for treble and one for bass, physically merged into one unit.
The design ensures that the tweeter and bass frequency units are on the same axis and that sound energy is spherically distributed from a central point – a real point source that offers an exceptionally lifelike drawing of the played music.
Conventional two- or three-way speakers project separate sound waves from different drivers arranged separately from each other. This inevitably leads to phase and time shifts, which contribute to certain distortions in the played music. As described, this problem is successfully eliminated by the Dual Concentric Speaker design.
